Could not open socket (Captcha)

Hi! I have just installed recaptcha in my site but for the first time I am not able to use it, I continue to have the following error message after that I press the send button in my form: "Could not open the socket" .. Using google i found several discussion on the topic but they were all outdated so even trying the solution provided to other threads I wasn't able to find a solution to my problem.. In the past I was always able to use the ReCaptcha, this is the first time.. Is there something that I have to check on my server? or there is something that I have to change in the captcha php file?
